Apparently this week is British Sandwich Week! One of the simplest things I do to eat herbs each day is adding fresh herbs from the garden to my sandwiches. Dandelion leaves, marjoram, ground ivy or fennel leaf are my faves. When we eat herbs in our food we need them less often as medicine. It's super easy to grab some fresh dandelion leaves. They are a gentle digestive bitter to boost your digestion & they're packed full with vitamins and minerals... step outside and see if you can find some. 🌼🌼

For many years, I dreamed of translating my drawings into tattoos. Last summer, the dream came true when I was blessed by a visit from @ritual.ink_ who showed me the ropes.

I’m now taking bookings for hand-poked botanical tattoos. Plants are mighty generous with their medicine. Look at this beauty. This is a root I harvested from my garden last month as its leaves just began to sprout. It is the mighty root of Burdock ( Arctium lappa). The root, leaf and seed of this plant can be used as medicine. It is a herbalists go-to herb to support healthy skin and can be an invaluable support when treating conditions like eczema, boils, rashes, acne or dry and scaly skin.

Burdock is an alterative plant which means that it works to bring metabolic balance in the body. In burdock’s case, its medicine is focused in the lymphatic, digestive and urinary systems.

Burdock root like the one in the picture supports liver health, reduces inflammation, and improves gut flora with its high inulin content. A tincture of the seeds is good to use as acute medicine to shift the lymph to clear metabolic waste, cool inflammation and support healthy sebaceous glands the skin. The leaves are incredibly bitter and can support liver health. They can also be used as a poultice on infected or irritated skin.

Personally I find burdock root tincture a great herb to use as a tonic. It has helped me clean out all sorts of gunk - physical and metaphysical - over the years.
